1989 - Played an instrumental part on the University of Illinois Basketball Team (dubbed “The Flying Illini") that reached The Final Four in the NCAA Tournament

 

1990 – Began his professional basketball career when he was drafted in the 2

nd Round by the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA)  

 

1990 to 1994 – Played professional basketball in the NBA playing for both the Denver Nuggets and the Detroit Pistons

 

1994 to 2000 – Continued his professional basketball career playing an additional six years in Puerto Rico, Japan, Turkey, Sweden, Chile, France, and Greece

 

2000 - Began his professional coaching career in the International Basketball Association (IBA), while also coaching at Cheyenne High School in Las Vegas, Nevada.

 

2003- 2007 - Started Liberty Sports a Basketball Teaching Academy based outside of Chicago, IL

 

2007 to Present - Joined McClaren Sports in Houston, TX in the role of Player Development

 

2008 to 2009  - Worked as the Director of Sports at Westside Tennis and Fitness

Marcus Liberty (born October 27, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois) is a retired American professional basketball player who was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the 2nd round (42nd overall) of the 1990 NBA Draft. A 6'8" (2.03 m) and 205 lb (93 kg) small forward, Liberty played for the Nuggets and Detroit Pistons in 4 NBA seasons. His best year as a pro was during the 1991-92 NBA season when he appeared in 75 games for the Nuggets, averaging 9.3 ppg. He played collegiately at the University of Illinois, being a member of the team that advanced to the 1989 Final Four.
