Shiamak Davar began his choreography for Indian cinema with the film 'Dil To Pagal Hai', for which he won the President's National Award. Having changed the way dance was perceived in Indian films, Shiamak went on to choreograph for several Bollywood films such as Taal, Kisna, Bunty Aur Babli, Dhoom 2, I See You, Taare Zameen Par, Yuvvraaj and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. {{Cleanup|date=January 2008} Shiamak Davar is the GURU OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE IN INDIA choreographer and AN ARTISTIC DIRECTOR well known for changing the choreography of indian cinema and the first Indian to bring Contemporary Jazz and western forms of dances to thousands in India through his school SDIPA, the first of its kind. [1] He was also the Director of Choreography for the Commonwealth Games Melbourne,[2] among others.

Davar has choreographed several Indian actors and celebrities for film and stage. Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor was a member of the Shiamak Davar Dance Company, and was trained as a dance instructor by Davar.[3][4] Upcoming Indian actors Ruslan Mumtaz, Shubh and child actor Darsheel Safary were also a part of the Shiamak Davar Dance Company.
