Magkaribal is an upcoming Philippine primetime drama fashion series broadcast on ABS-CBN. The first ever fashion-serye on Philippine TV. It is a family drama that will capture the hearts of Filipino viewers. Synopsis

Magkaribal is the story of two loving sisters who dream of one day entering the fashion world. But a tragic incident destroys their family and separates them because of Vera Cruz. Anna is brought to believe that her sister Angela died. So she vows to avenge her sister's death. Meanwhile, Angela ends up looking for her sister Anna.

Years later, Anna and Angela fulfill their dreams of finally penetrating the beautiful world of fashion. Anna becomes the famous international fashion model, Victoria Valera. Angela on the other hand, is adopted by a couple who named her Gelai. She becomes the echo-derecho queen of Divisoria.

Victoria comes back to the Philippines to make Vera pay for what she did to her family. But her plot to destroy Vera is hindered by Gelai, the Divisoria girl turned Philippine fashion's newest sensation. A fashion war ensues between Victoria and Gelai. A war that leads them to fight against each other not just in fashion but even in love.

How far will Victoria and Gelai's war go before they discover that they are the sisters whose love for each other was insurmountable before their separation?

GELAI: "Hindi lang kita tatapatan, lalampasan pa kita."

VICTORIA: "You want war? I'll give you war. Sabihin mo lang kung kelan at saan. I'll be there in my red stilettos."

Facts & Trivia

• Magkaribal was conceptualized on 2009.
• This teleserye was originally tailor-made for real-life sisters Gretchen Barretto and Claudine Barretto. But when Claudine Barretto, an ABS-CBN Broadcasting Company homegrown talent for almost two decades decided to transfer to the network's rival station GMA Network, the project was temporarily shelved. But the material was too beautiful that ABS-CBN decided to make a few revisions of the concept in order to push through with project.
• The role originally intended for Claudine Barretto was offered to Bea Alonzo, who accepted the project without any hesitation. Bea admitted that she has no problems being the second choice for the role, or for any role for that matter.
• The Creative and Production teams of the show were able to revise the concept and have actually made a better version of the original concept.
• The taping started last April, 2010.
• Enchong Dee, one of the show's main cast, admitted that he felt awkward working with the main protagonist Bea Alonzo on their first taping day because back then, he was vocal in saying that he has a crush on Bea. But Bea, though flattered, didn't allow the issue to put a barricade in her working relationship with Enchong. The two became close and on their succeeding tapings, they developed a good rapport.
• Robert Arevalo plays an old gay man in this show. A new and fresh role for the veteran actor on a TV series.
• Angel Aquino will be seen on a different light as she portrays the role of a kontrabida. Everybody is excited to see how she will carry her role and everyone is excited to hate her on this show.
• A different Erich Gonzales will also be seen in this show. Her role as Chloe is poles apart from her roles as Nene and Fina in her previous teleseryes.
• Mark Gil, also one of the cast members is the father of Andi Eigenmann, star of the country's current no. 1 primetime show, Agua Bendita. Andi is his daughter to Jaclyn Jose, cast of another top-rating show, Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo. The three will all become part of ABS-CBN's primetime line up separately, on their respective shows when Magkaribal pilots this June.
• An accident endangered the lives of the show's two main cast, Gretchen Barretto and Derek Ramsay because of a tracking scene in a motorcycle. Gretchen Barretto figured in a wardrobe malfunction accident while taping the said scene. The hem of Gretchen's red gown (worth P80,000.000) was caught in a wheel of the moving motorbike, pulling down her gown in the process.
• Gretchen Barretto and Angelica Panganiban, star of ABS-CBN's primetime soap opera Rubi and Derek Ramsay's real-life girlfriend, recently got involved in an all-out word war because of Gretchen's naughty remarks about her leading man Derek.

Production

In order to capture the viewers of all ages, males and females, ABS-CBN carefully balanced the story of Magkaribal in order to make it an exciting family drama. The settings are Divisoria, an up-scale environment and a barrio surroundings. The milieus are the fashion industry and the local mixed martial arts sports URCC. Fashion for the ladies and URCC for the gentlemen. A unique combination of the glamour of femininity and the vitality of masculinity.
