Chikku Bhukku is a forthcoming Tamil language romantic film directed by Manikandan. It stars Arya, Shriya Saran and Preetika in the lead roles.[1]

Development

Following the success of Metro Films's previous venture, Dhaam Dhoom, the production house opted to invest in another Tamil language production. They associated their interest with diector G.K.Manigandan, who had worked in completing Dhaam Dhoom after the original director Jeeva had suffered a heart attack and died during the shooting in 2007. G.K.Manigandan along with Aneez Jeeva, the late director's wife, completed the film under the production of Metro Films.in this film associate director Naga and HariGopi was doing his job wonderfully[2]

Casting

With the initial announcement, the cast was revealed. Arya, who had experienced critical and commercial success with his role of an aghori in Naan Kadavul, was signed up for his second successive love story after completing his shoot for Sarvam. Vidya Balan was earlier being considered to play the main female lead in the film but she couldn't fit in her dates due to Bollywood commitments hence Preetika, the younger sister of Bollywood award-winning actress Amrita Rao, was chosen in her place. Preetika who has been a famous model and a journalist-columnist will make her debut into the cinema industry with this film. Being a two heroin based subject Genelia D'Souza was considered for the movie as well , however a week after the announcement of the film, it became revealed that Shriya Saran had replaced Genelia in the film, due to the latter's insistence for a relatively high salary[3][4]Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). .

Manikandan was announced to direct the film, renewing his collaboration with Metro Films following their work in Dhaam Dhoom. R.B. Gurudhev was selected to portray the role of the cinematographer, whilst Hariharan and Leslie Lewis will operate as the music directors for their second film, following Modhi Vilayadu. The rest of the crew are yet to be finalized.

Filming

The film completed its principal photography in February 2009, with a 22-day schedule in Karaikudi being completed immediately after with Arya and Preetika.[5] Other destinations revealed for the production of the film include South Indian hill resort Ooty and London. Shriya Saran began her shoot in April 2009. Currently Shriya and Arya are stranded in London where they had gone for a shoot of a song[6][7].
