History

In the history its name was Morwana (the place of mor- peacock), then after some time it got transformed into Narwana.

Religion

Most of the people are Hindus, Sikhs, or belong to the Jain Community, though there are worship places for every religion. 'Baba Gaibi Sahib Mandir' is very famous place where on Sunday, most of the people visit. Old Hanuman Temple is another famous and old temple in the city which is famous all around. There are two Gurudwaras, one Mosque and one Catholic Church also.

Narwana is located at 29°37′N 76°07′E / 29.62°N 76.12°E / 29.62; 76.12.[1] It has an average elevation of 214 metres (702 feet).

Lot of kids school has come up in the region nowadays, which are a stepping stone for healthy career. Narwana has always been known for his good education for both boys and girls. Preferred profession for the people is Business, with large amount of people are in to this. Lot of students get selected for top most engineering colleges and this place has always been in the news for large amount of people getting short listed for IAS, doctors, leaders, pharmacists, and many more .....

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Narwana had a population of 50,659. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Narwana has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 54%. In Narwana, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

How to reach there

Narwana is well connected with road network and rail network. It is located on a junction of two national highways NH 65 and NH 71.

Haryana & Punjab Roadways buses connect it with most of towns in Haryana and surrounding states of Punjab, UP and Delhi.
Buses are normally available only in day hours. If you are coming from Delhi by road take the NH 10 that connects Delhi to Fazilka. On a junction near Rohtak shift to NH71 towards Jind. In Jind you have to pass through city before coming towards Narawna. WHen you coming from Hissar to Chandigarh By NH65 Narwana is at the crossing of NH65 and NH71

An alternate route is via Delhi–Sonipat–Jind that is few km shorter.

By rail it is on the main BG line that connects the national capital to Bhatinda.
It is also a junction station with branch line to Kurukshetra. The important trains which stop at this station are Punjab Mail (Mumbai CST–Firozpur), Malwa Express (Indore_ Jammutavi), Jabalpur - Jammutawi Express, Sriganga Nagar–New Delhi Intercity, Mumbai–Firozpur Janta Express (Via Kota), Howrah–Sriganga Nagar (Via Patna), Kanyakumari–Jammu Express (1 of Longest train running in India), Mangalore–Jammu Navyug Express, Chenni–Jammu Andman Express, Pathankot–Delhi Dhauldhar Express, Guwhati–Lalgarh (Bikaner), Jablapur–Jammu Tawi Express and a few other passenger trains.

Nearest Airports are at Chandigarh and Delhi. Delhi is well connected by many world cities and Indian state capitals. A few private companies also provide charted flights to Sirsa, which is 2 hours distance by road.
