Gary Renard is the author of the books The Disappearance of the Universe (DU) and Your Immortal Reality (YIR). He also has at least two more additional books scheduled for release in 2011 and possibly 2012. In the first of his books, DU, Renard recounts a series of unusual encounters. These encounters are portrayed as a series of 17 appearances of what are referred to to as two seemingly fully embodied 'ascended masters'. This first book describes Renard's alleged series of encounters with this pair over the course of nine years, from 1992 until just after the World Trade Center Disaster of 2001. In this first book, according to Renard, the two 'ascended masters' identified themselves as Pursah and Arten, and claimed to have once been disciples of Jesus under the names Thomas and Thaddeus. Even more remarkably, Pursah is purported to be Renard himself in a future life. These two 'ascended masters' allegedly first introduced Renard to the book, A Course In Miracles (ACIM), and then assisted him to better understand that book's teachings. The philosophy and teachings as found in Renard's book are generally harmonious with and supportive of the teachings as found in ACIM. Some of his writings and activities have stirred some controversy within the ACIM community.

Life after 1992

After experiencing his alleged series of encounters, Renard significantly redirected his focus from being a musician and an investor into primarily being a spokesperson and teacher for his understanding of the teachings of ACIM, as well as the promotion of his books.

In 2006, Renard published a sequel to DU called Your Immortal Reality: How to Break the Cycle of Birth and Death with Hay House Publishing. In 2007 Renard divorced his first wife, Karen Renard. In 2009 he remarried to musician and therapist, Cindy Lora, whom he believes to be the Arten/ Thadeus mentioned in his books. He has moved from Maine to southern California.[1] Due to the recent significant changes in his personal life, the publication of his third book, "Love Has Forgotten No One" has been delayed since April of 2008, but is tentatively scheduled for distribution by Hayhouse in early 2011.[2] In his Episode 39 podcast, Renard also notes that he is already embarking upon the editing of a fourth book, title to be disclosed. Renard currently travels and teaches in numerous locations, as described on his website.

Additional controversial claims

In addition to his claim to have been visited by two ascended masters Renard also claims that humans once migrated to Earth from Mars, and before that from yet another planet[3]. Also in his writings Renard subscribes to the Oxfordian theory of Shakespeare authorship[4], he supports the pre-canonical authorship of the Gospel of Thomas by the disciple Thomas himself [5], and he claims that Jesus was indeed married![6]
