Alexis I. duPont High School is a public high school located in the Wilmington suburb of Greenville, Delaware. A.I. serves as one of three high schools in the Red Clay Consolidated School District.

Founded in 1893, A.I., the oldest public school still in existence in Delaware, serves the suburbs of Wilmington, including Hockessin, Centerville, Elsmere, and Newport. The school population is approximately 1,300 and is rapidly growing.

Academics

Recognized by Newsweek magazine in 2003 and 2005, A.I. duPont High School was the only school in Delaware to make the list of The Best Public High Schools from Delaware.

In recent years, A.I. students have been accepted at every Ivy League university, and many other top-tier institutions. The majority of college-bound students go on to attend the University of Delaware.

Athletics

A.I. plays in the Flight A Blue Hen Conference, arguably the best sports conference in Delaware.

The most recent state championship was the Lady Tigers Soccer team in 2004.

Music

The 265 member Tiger Marching Band has a history of participation in outstanding musical, cultural and sports events across the nation and the globe. The Tigers have been described as, “…Probably the nation’s most televised high school band”, having appeared in the Pasadena ’Tournament of Roses Parade’ in 1990, 1995, 1999 and 2004; one of only two bands outside California ever invited four times.
