Penny was born in Braidwood

Her father was born near Braidwood in 1910 and served with Light Horse in WW I

Her mother's name was Irene who was born in Western NSW. Her family were avid horse racing followers It was Irene's that inspired Penny's TV series The Track. Irene's brother was a jockey who died in Cobar in 1930.

TV series RAN (Remote Area nurse) was inspired by her Penny's sister Peta, who was a Remote Area Nurse.
