The Abyssal Rattail (Coryphaenoides murrayi) is a fish of the genus Coryphaenoides, found around southern Australia, Fiji, and the east coast of New Zealand at depths of between 1,200 and 1,300 metres. Its length is between 30 to 40 centimetres.
The Abyssal Rattail has the usual greatly elongated pointed tail of the rattails, as well as large eyes and a ridged conical snout. It has a chin barbel and a long first pelvic fin ray.
The colour is light brown, and black on the abdomen, on the fin bases, and around the gill openings.
