Atif Aslam (Template:Lang-ur; born in Wazirabad, Punjab, Pakistan as Mohammad Atif Aslam) is a Pakistani pop singer and film actor.Height = 5' 9¾" (1.77 m) [1] His debuted as an actor for the first time in the 2011 film Bol. He has generated numerous chart-topping songs,[2] and is known for his vocal belting technique.[3]. Atif is a recipient for the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan's highest civilian decorations.
Early life
Atif was born into a Muslim family in Lahore, Pakistan.Atif Aslam is a Pakistani musician. He was born in Wazirabad, Gujranwala, Punjab, pakistan and educated in Lahore and Rawalpindi.[4] He went to kindergarten at Kimberley Hall School, Lahore. His first stage performance was in a fancy dress show at his school where he performed as Imran Khan, the former captain of Pakistan national cricket team. In 1991, he moved to Rawalpindi where he continued his studies in St Paul's School.[disambiguation needed] Aslam came back to Lahore in 1995 where he continued his studies in DPS[disambiguation needed], Lahore. Aslam started his FSC[disambiguation needed] in Fazaia Inter College, Lahore. Aslam has a Bachelor's degree from the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL PUNJAB. Atif was passionate about cricket. He practised bowling at Shapes Club Lahore. In his school team he was the fast bowler. He has had no professional training in singing or acting And his friend Rajat Arora who lives in Amritsar and working in a Hotel support him too. Rajat Arora is now known as RJ Sunny in Amritsar.[5][6]
Music career
Solo career (2004 onwards)
Atif Aslam's soulful voice crossed the Pakistani border and reached India when Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt called Atif Aslam to seek his consent to put "Woh Lamhey" as a song in the soundrack of his new motion picture, Zeher.[7] After leaving the Pakistani pop band Jal, Atif, released his first solo album, Jal Pari, on 19 July 2004, under Sound Master and IC records. His work has gradually became popular in India. His second album, Doorie, was released on April 2007.
The song aadat was also played on such Pakistani radio stations as FM100 and FM105.[8]
Atif also mentioned in a press conference held in Karachi that he will be working on an international project titled The Dreamer Awakes, alongside members of American rock band Guns N' Roses. [citation needed] CONTRAST WiTH JAL THE BAND:-----contrast with JAL :- After the release of the song "Aadat" by Jal, there were disputes within the band about Atif's brother being the band's manager. At this point Atif broke off from the band to do his own solo album. His solo album was released a few weeks before the release of the new Jal's (Goher Mumtaz, Farhan Saeed, Shazi) "Aadat". As both Jal's "Aadat", and Atif’s album, Jalpari, shared certain tracks (such as "Aadat", "Wo Lamhey", "Rangon Mein" and "Dil Harey"), an unofficial war over rights began between both the groups. Goher Mumtaz sued Atif Aslam for using the name "Jal" in his album title cunningly (Jal pari, meaning mermaid). As the copyright law in Pakistan is quite ambiguous (people can change the name of the content and use the content labelling it as their own property). The hype this feud gave to both Atif and the new Jal was extraordinary and split music fans with the fans of each side backing their respective favourite. On the other hand, a few years back a video on youtube was released by Pakmanzil.com with Atif Aslam giving a message to Goher Mumtaz to leave the differences behind and move on with his career and stop blaming each other fovoices.
There were rumors circulating online that his new album was titled Shabnam. This was denied by Aslam. “Right now, my entire focus is on this project (The Dreamer Awakes). I may be singing with Chris Martin or John Mayer… we’re trying to bring a lot of people together.”[9] He has been greatly influenced by singers Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Kishore Kumar and K.K.
Sarmad Ghafoor, a guitarist and producer for Qayaas contacted Aslam to collaborate with them for the fifth season of Coke Studio (Pakistan). Atif Aslam in collaboration with Qayaas, performed a revived rendition of "Charkha Nolakha" by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The song and the episode received positive reviews from critics not only in Pakistan but also across the border in India. He also sang many songs for coke studio(Pakistan)like Dholna, Rabba Sacheya, Mai Nee, Kinara, Wasta E Pyar Da and Jalpari.
Currently Atif Aslam is leading as the team captain of the reality singing show "Sur Kshestra" supporting Pakistan Team. The show is held in Dubai and being broadcasted from Dubai as well.
