Career

Career in Japan

He is a member of the Swedish rock band Seremedy.[5][6] Yohio also has a career as a solo artist in Japan, were he performs his music with a combination of a lolita look and rock/pop music taking inspiration from the Japanese Visual kei. In the Swedish press, he has been described as being a "superstar in Japan"[7][8][9] - it's worth noting that while he has received a small amount of attention in Japan and even once appeared on the popular variety show Waratte Iitomo!, none of his releases have appeared at any position on Japan's Oricon single or album charts.[10]

In 2012, Yohio released his first EP called "Reach The Sky" with the single "Sky Limit".[11] The same year he also released his first English song "Our Story", however it was not on the EP.[12] Yohio has made three music videos for "Sky Limit", "Our Story", and a music video for his Melodifestivalen entry, Heartbreak Hotel.[12]

Melodifestivalen 2013

Yohio was one of the contestants in the 2013 edition of Melodifestivalen, the Swedish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 to be held in Malmö. His song was "Heartbreak Hotel",[13] which he wrote along with Johan Fransson, Tobias Lundgren, Tim Larsson and Henrik Göranson.[13] On 2 February, Yohio qualified for the contest final, where he, on 9 March, finished second but got the majority of the Swedish peoples votes.[14]

Personal life

Yohio is the son of Tommy Rehn of Swedish metal band Corroded and Johanna Eires.[1] He is also nephew of Chris Rehn of Swedish pop rock band Takida, Chris and Tommy were also both in the band Angtoria, and the grandchild of Jan-Eric Rehn who was a guitarist in 1960s band The Panthers.[15] Yohio speaks fluent Japanese, after getting an interest for the Japanese culture and Visual kei at a young age, and also spending time in Japan on his seven trips to the country performing his music.[5][16]
