The Anglo-Afghan author Tahir Shah (born in [[London]] [[16 November]] [[1966]]) and educated at [[Bryanston School]], Dorset. He is the son of the [[Sufi]] writer [[Idries Shah]], and the brother of [[Saira Shah]], celebrated for her [[documentary film]] Beneath the Veil, (about women under the [[Taliban]]). Tahir Shah is the author of more than ten books and several groundbreaking documentaries. His work is regarded as especially valuable in the way that it leads the reader into the underbelly of the lands through which he travels, and suggests that anyone can be an explorer -- that travel opens the mind. His main books include: BEYOND THE DEVIL'S TEETH, SORCERER'S APPRENTICE, HOUSE OF THE TIGER KING, IN SEARCH OF KING SOLOMON'S MINES and TRAIL OF FEATHERS. His books have appeared in numerous languages, and his films -- including HOUSE OF THE TIGER KING -- have been shown on [[National Geographic Channel]], [[Channel 4]] etc. Shah's latest book is THE CALIPH'S HOUSE: A Year in [[Casablanca]], where he lives with his wife and two small children. In addition to writing and film making, Shah writes screen material, and lectures on problem-solving and leadership. He is currently working on a book about the vision of His Majesty [[Mohammed VI of Morocco]], and is researching a book about the role and power of storytelling in [[Morocco]] and the Arab World. Shah is a member of various professional and academic associations, as well as a member of London's [[Athenaeum Club]].
