Baxter Dury (born 18 December 1971, Wingrave, Buckinghamshire, England) is an English indie musician, originally signed to Rough Trade Records.[1] He is the son of Ian Dury,[1] and as a five-year-old he appeared on the front cover of Ian's LP New Boots and Panties!!.[2] He left school at the age of fourteen.[2] He has had a 'Record of the Week' in NME with Oscar Brown EP in 2002.[1] He has one son, Kosmo Korda Dury (born 2002) whose mother is the granddaughter of Zoltan Korda.[2]
More recently, Dury has signed a new recording contract with [PIAS] Le Label and announced the release of a new album "It's A Pleasure" on 20 October 2014 . [3] Baxter also announced a show at the 100 Club in London on 12 November [4] which sold out. A second London show was added at Village Underground for 24 February 2015. Baxter has also been invited to play the Festival des inRocKs in France during November 2014 [5]
In popular culture
Baxter Dury is the son of Ian Dury. A biopic entitled Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll was released on 8 January 2010. It stars Andy Serkis as Ian Dury. Baxter's role is played by Bill Milner. The film was nominated for several awards. The title of the film is derived from Dury's 1977 7" single "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll".
