Aham was featured in the 50 Sexiest Asian Male List 2014 where he was voted in at 27th place in the poll. [3] He also made it into the TV Actors: Fuze TV Personality Of The Year Male Poll and bagged the 4th position. [4]

Personal Life

Aham Sharma was born in Patna, India where his father worked as a government official. He has a two siblings, a younger brother and an elder sister. He studied engineering in Indore before turning to be an actor. In a radio interview done by Indian Television Forum in 2014, Aham revealed as a reply to questions by fans, that he got married in 2012 and also has a daughter who is just a baby. Aham said in interview that even from his college days, he wanted to become an actor and had very realistic expectations about the acting profession. "I wanted to act since my college days. I have my priorities in place. I haven't just come here blindly. I know there are a lot of negative things that happen here and people are out to exploit you but I will never compromise."

Career

Aham began his acting career by doing a television series named, Chand Ke Paar Chalo aired on NDTV Imagine channel. Aham played the central role of Rehan, a young man of aristocratic lineage, set in Lucknow. Rehan was separated from his family as a child due to his father's death which made him resent his mother deeply. Aham was quoted saying about the role of Rehan as, "I am from Bihar but have stayed away from my family for a long time so I can relate to Rehan. Every character in this show is simple and viewers can relate to them easily." [5] Aham then played the role of Nirbhay Pundir, a supporting role in the television serial Bairi Piya in the channel COLOURS, 2010. Aham referred to the role and said, "I play the dutiful son of the house. It's a very soft and sweet character. I can reveal only this." Then he played a negative role in the serial Hum Ne Li Hai- Shapath in one episode aired on 25 May, 2013, in the role of "Dr. Ajay /Vidyut-The Flash man", a villain with super powers. [6]

Aham joined the cast of Zee TV's series Ek Nayi Chhoti Si Zindagi, on the lives of two orphan sisters, Isha and Ira. Aham played the role of "Shravan", a loud, funny and lovable gangster who is a bike mechanic by profession. Shravan, despite having gone through overwhelming odds, has just one weakness and that is his obsession with RJ Palak which was another identity assumed by the character Isha. Aham's character turned stalker on the quiet and affable Isha, with a passion that often bordered on being obsessive. Aham said he was excited to play the role as it had some negative shades to it: "It feels quite surreal playing this role. My first memory of watching an obsessive stalker onscreen was Shah Rukh Khan in Darr. He immortalized the role of a stalker! And while I might not necessarily have to say 'K-k-k-k-Kiran'. I do hope that I can do justice to the role that has been given to me! The story is at an interesting juncture now and I'm happy to do this role which has tremendous shades to enact." [7]

Aham did his first movie Blue Oranges by a debutant director, Rajesh Ganguly, in 2009. The movie was a murder mystery about an alcoholic women named Shalini (Pooja Kanwal) who is murdered, creating suspects out of a painter, a student and a pilot. Aham played the role of the painter named "Kevin Travasso" alongside veteran actor Rajit Kapoor. Aham also went on to do more movies like Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai and Karle Pyaar Karle. Currently he is shooting for an international film titled Arunachal 1962. The film is based on a character during 1959 across the Indo-China border. The film's dialogue is entirely in English alongside sub titles. [8]

Aham became well known for his performances in the TV series' Aasman Se Aage and Mahabharat where he essayed the roles of "Angad" and "Karna" respectively. As Angad his dancing skill was appreciated by the audience. [9] The casting for the role of Karna was finalized lastly [10] as lot of actors were considered to play the enigmatic character. Aham revealed that he was called for audition while he was working in another project. He was finalized after audition and a series of look tests. [11] For his portrayal of Karna, he won many awards like Saathi Nayi Soch Ka by Star Parivar and Best Actor In Supporting Role at Indian Telly Awards.
