Berlioz at the Port of Calais in August 2012

MyFerryLink is an English Channel passenger and freight ferry company which began operating between Dover and Calais in August 2012. The MyFerryLink fleet consists of two modern ferries – sister ships the MS Rodin and the MS Berlioz – that carry passengers and freight, and one dedicated freight ship, the MS Nord Pas-de-Calais. It was formed following the liquidation of Seafrance. MyFerryLink offers passengers up to 16 sailings between Dover and Calais every day, and additional services for freight.

The staff on board MyFerryLink's ships are all members of a workers’ co-operative – a société coopérative et participative, or SCOP, in French – that operates the company’s sailings between Britain and France.

On 6 June 2013, the UK Competition Commission ruled that Eurotunnel, which leases the three MyFerryLink vessels to the SCOP, could no longer operate ferry services from Dover.[1] The ruling was appealed by Eurotunnel,[2] allowing sailings operated by the company to continue as normal, but this decision was overturned in January 2014, allowing MyFerryLink to enter Dover.[3]

On 20 May 2014, UK Competition Commission ruled again the SCOP, could no longer operate ferry services from Dover.[4]. Scop SeaFrance pointed a potential conflit of interest : Ex accountant of DFDS is now member of UK Competition Commission and appealed.[5]

In May 2015 Appeal court broke ruling and said it is "fair competition" but UK Competition Commission appealed to UK Supreme Court[6].

On 8 June 2015, as Eurotunnel was fed up of continuous fight from UK Competition Commission[7], DFDS and Eurotunnel announced that they had entered a lease-buy deal for DFDS to acquire the ships Rodin and Berlioz. Eurotunnel will keep operating "Nord pas de Calais" for dangerous goods. MyFerryLink will cease operations on July 2, 2015. [8]

  • Le Pub:[10] A bar where drinks and snacks can be purchased during the crossing.
  • La Boutique:[11] The onboard shop sells products including alcohol, tobacco, perfumes and other gifts.
  • Playzone:[12] A play area with toys and games for children.
