Skyport Systems is an information security company that develops integrated security software and hardware. Founded in 2013 and it is headquartered in Mountain View, California. The Silicon Valley Business Journal recognized Skyport Systems as the third Bay Area startup company in terms of value rise in 2015.[1]

History

Skyport Systems were founded in 2013 by Michael Beesley, Will Eatherton and Rob Rodgers.[2] The lack of secure infrastructure systems, highlighted by the successes by the hacker community during the past few years, was the motive for Skyport Systems to develop its products.[3] In its first round of funding, Skyport raised $7 million, reportedly all from Sutter Hill Ventures.[2] It raised a total of $30 million in its second funding round, led by Index Ventures and followed by Intel Capital and Sutter Hill Ventures.[4][5]

After securing two rounds of funding the company came out of stealth mode.[6] Following the beginning of the company's global channel program, a number of partnerships were secured, including one with Carahsoft.[7][8][9] By May 2015, the company had 55 employees, projected to increase to between 75 and 100 by the end of the year.[10]
