Bharti Sharma, Indian Theater Director/Actor and Teacher, National School of Drama Graduate passed out in 1987, Recipient of Senior Research Fellowship awarded to her by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India for her research based project titled "The Changing Styles and Methods of Theater Acting", based in New Delhi, India, is known for her highly realistic, innovative, experimental, philosophical, socially and politically relevant theater in India. Bharti's plays deal with various issues from man woman relationship to mythological and philosophical themes. Her plays trigger an introspection and talk about existence of life from the very own personal sphere to the larger cosmic universal existence.

After passing out from NSD in 1987, she along with another NSD Graduate Bipin Kumar, Director, National School of Drama Sikkim Training Center, founded Delhi's well established Kshitij Theater Group which has been producing critically acclaimed plays since its inception in 1987. Bharti Sharma is currently the Creative Head of the group Kshitij. She has directed and acted in more than 50 plays and has worked with renowned theater personalities like Ratan Thiyam, Mohan Maharishi, B.M. Shah, Ram Gopal Bajaj, Kirti Jain, Anuradha Kapur, Satyadev Dube, Berry John, Vinod Nagpal, Kavita Nagpal and many more.

Her contribution to Indian Theater is remarkable. She has dramatized many novels for stage. Few notable dramatizations are :-

"Pahaunch Wala Aadami" based on a Russian play "A Man With Connections" in 1994

"Goli Ek Paidayishi Ghulam" in 2001 performed in the Baharat Rang Mahotsav (International Theater Festival) organized by National School of Drama, Delhi, India

"Main Hoon Na....(In Time & Space)" based on Purnavatar novel written by Pramathnath Bishi in 2003 acted by prominent theater actors of Delhi stage Mohit Tripathi, Deep Kumar, Nitin Goel and Raj Kumar Rao renowned film actor who has won the National Award for his film Shahid, the play was also performed in the Baharat Rang Mahotsav 2008 (International Theater Festival) organized by National School of Drama every year in Delhi, India

Work for Indian Television ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Apart from doing theater she has also been active on Television. She has co-anchored 40 episodes of the cultural magazine "Tana Bana" a PTI T.V. production for DD National telecast in 1991-92 with Mr. Shashi Kumar the then head of PTI T.V. currently running the Asia Net T.V. channel. Bharti Sharma has also written, directed and produced 13 episodes' serial Gadbad Ghotala for DD National in 1995 She has produced, written the screen play and acted in 2 and 1/2 hours film Kaala Heera for Zee T.V. telecast in 2001 The screen play of the film Kaala Heera was Zee T.V. entry for best screen play in Asian T.V. and Film Award in 2001 She has made many documentaries for Department of Culture, Govt. of India She has also directed many short films for UNISEF India and Dipaliya Plan Project (a social organization in India)
