Jon Hirschtick is an American businessman, a Founder and Chairman of the Board at Onshape [1] (previous name "Belmont Technology" [2] [3]), a Founder and former CEO of Solidworks [4] [5] [6], a former group executive at Dassault Systemes [7].

Also Jon is a former director of engineering at Computervision (1981-1983) [8], he is a member of Advisory Board at Arcbazar and served as its Director [7], he was a manager at the MIT CADLab, and he was a player and instructor on the MIT Blackjack Team [9] [10].

Jon serves on the Engineering Advisory Board at Boston University and as an advisor to Magic Leap, Inc. and MarkForged, Inc. [11]

Career

Jon Hirschtick holds a Bachelors and Masters from MIT at 1983 and 1986 [5], and has worked in CAD for over 30 years.

He took about $1 million while a member of the MIT Blackjack Team and used this money to create a team to build 3D CAD software [12] [13].

Jon founded SolidWorks in 1993, his goal was to build easy-to-use 3D CAD software for Windows [4]. In 1997, SolidWorks sold to Dassault Systemes for $318 million, and Hirschtick stayed on board for the next 14 years. Under his leadership, SolidWorks grew to a $100 million revenue company.[1] In October 2012, Jon Hirschtick decided to leave SolidWorks to found another CAD company, Onshape [14] [15].
