  • Comment: Youtube is not an reliable source. » Shadowowl | talk 16:13, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Comment: There seems to be sufficient significant reliable sources (e.g. Earmilk, LA Times, Pitchfork). - TheMagnificentist 10:43, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
  • Comment: Sources such as iTunes, etc. are not convincing for notability as they're only profiles, and announcements or notices are no different; what we need is focused major independent news in major news publications. SwisterTwister talk 19:24, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Steven Thomas Lacy-Moya (born May 23, 1998), better known by his stage name Steve Lacy, is an American guitarist, bassist, producer, singer-songwriter, and audio engineer. He was born in Compton, California and gained recognition as a member of the Grammy-nominated R&B group, The Internet, in 2015.[8][9] In February 2017, Lacy released his debut project, a "song-series"[5] titled Steve Lacy's Demo.[10][11]

Musical career

1998-2013: Career beginnings

Steve Lacy was born on May 23, 1998, in Compton, California, United States.[9] He met former band member of The Internet, Jameel Bruner[5], while in the jazz band at the high school they both attended. Steve got his start by producing beats on his iPhone, making his first songs on the device, using a plug-in piece for his guitar, called an iRig.[12][13][14]

2014-17: The Internet and Steve Lacy's Demo

Through Jameel, he began producing on what would become The Internet's third studio album, Ego Death.[5] Contributing on the production of 8 tracks, Ego Death was nominated at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album.[8] After it was announced that The Internet members would release solo projects, Steve Lacy appeared on Matt Martians' The Drum Chord Theory and Syd's Fin.[15] He also began producing songs for Twenty88, Denzel Curry, Isaiah Rashad, J. Cole, GoldLink, and Kendrick Lamar, among others. On February 17, 2017, Steve Lacy's Demo was released, with Steve having created most of the song-series on his iPhone, producing the guitar and bass arrangements and singing his vocals right into its built-in microphone.[16][17] He also programmed the drum patterns in Ableton.[18][19]
