Calabazar is a ward (consejo popular, "people's council") of the city of Havana, the capital of Cuba, belonging to the municipal borough of Boyeros. In 2011, it had a population of 20,069.[1]
History
The village was founded in 1776 but officialized only in 1830s, when it started its urban expansion.[2]
Geography
Located in the south-central suburb of Havana, Calabazar spans from the Havana Ring Road to the southern rural suburb, sharing a large common border with the municipal borough of Arroyo Naranjo, and a shorter one with the borough of Marianao. It also borders with all Boyeros' wards, except Santiago de las Vegas.[3]
