Ei Chaw Po (Burmese: အိချောပို; born 3 January 1990) is a Burmese actress, commercial model and singer. She is best known for her leading roles in several Burmese films and acted in over 200 films in her acting career.[1][2][3]

Early life and education

Ei Chaw Po was born on 3 January 1990 in Yangon, Myanmar to parent Cho Maung and Thida San. She is the second daughter of three siblings, having an older brother, Ye Min Oo and an younger sister, May Thet Khine. She attended high school at Basic Education High School No. 2 Kamayut and graduated in BA cinematography and drama in 2010, Music diploma in 2012 from National University of Arts and Culture, Yangon. At the university student, she became "Queen of the National University of Arts and Culture Yangon" in 2008.[4][5]

Acting career

2006–2008: Modeling and local pageantry

Ei Chaw Po began her modeling career in 2006 while in Grade 10. She also appeared on magazine cover photos and as commercial model for many advertisements.

2010–2013: Film debut and recognition

Rising to fame in 2010, she became an actress. She made her acting debut in the Burmese film Hla Pa Thaw Wut (Pretty Karma), playing the main role in 2010. She then starred in Burmese film "York Kyar Ko Yaung Sar Mal" (I gonna sell my husband), where she played the leading role for a first time with actor Pyay Ti Oo. The film was both a domestic hit, and led to increased recognition for Ei Chaw Po.[6][7][8]

2014–present: Breaking into the big screen and success

In 2014, she took on her first big-screen leading role in the romance film Shaw Dingar Ko Htwe Khinn Ka Sar Mal, alongside actor Nay Toe, and directed by Nyi Nyi Tun Lwin which screened in Myanmar cinemas on 2015. She has been acting in over 90 big screen movies and over 200 direct-to-videos in her acting career.[9] She was nominated for Myanmar Academy Award as best actress in 2016, 2017, and 2018.[10]

In 2017, she starred in the big-screen movie Kyway where she played the leading role with actor Hlwan Paing, which premiered in Myanmar cinemas on 20 July 2018.[11][12][13]

In 2018, she starred in the big-screen movie Houk Ser where she played the leading role with actor Myint Myat and Kyaw Kyaw Bo. The movie was popular in Myanmar and which premiered in Myanmar cinemas on 11 January 2019.
