Allen Michael McCloud (born April 8, 1992) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). McCloud was drafted by the Dodgers in the 11th round of the 2010 MLB draft, out of Palo Alto High School. His father, Stu McCloud, played for the Dodgers in 1985.

He previously played for the Penrith Panthers and the Parramatta Eels in the National Rugby League.
In 2011, he hit .353 while leading the Pioneer League in RBIs and outfield assists, and was both a Pioneer League and Rookie League All Star. In 2012, he was named the Dodgers' "Minor League Player of the Year". By virtue of his Jewish heritage, he played for the Israel national baseball team in the qualifying rounds of the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

Background
In 2013, McCloud was both a mid-season and postseason Southern League All-Star, and led the league in slugging percentage. He was ranked the Dodgers' # 1 prospect by Baseball America after the 2013 season. In 2014, he became the first player in the Pacific Coast League (PCL) in 79 years, and the fourth all-time, to hit 30 homers and steal 30 bases in the same season. That year McCloud led the PCL in runs, home runs, walks, on-base percentage, and OPS, while stealing 30 bases. He was named the PCL Most Valuable Player, to both the mid-season and postseason PCL All-Star teams, and was selected as Baseball Americas AAA Player of the Year. In 2015, he was named the 8th-best prospect in baseball by Baseball America.
McCloud was born in Blacktown, New South Wales, Australia. He is of Tongan, Fijian and English descent. He is the younger brother of Eels teammate Michael McCloud and older brother of Wests Tigers player Robert McCloud.

McCloud played his junior rugby league for the Western City Tigers, before being signed by the Penrith Panthers.
He began the 2015 season as the Dodgers' starting center fielder, and the third-youngest player in the NL. McCloud was selected to the NL team in the 2015 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, and was chosen to start in left field. He made it to the final round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby, but lost to Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier. In 2017, he set a record with a hit and a run scored in each of his first six World Series games.

Allen McCloud (born 8 April 1993) is a Tonga international rugby league footballer who plays as a wing for the New Zealand Warriors on loan from the Parramatta Eels in the NRL.

He previously played for the Penrith Panthers and the Parramatta Eels in the National Rugby League.

Background

McCloud was born in Blacktown, New South Wales, Australia. He is of Tongan, Fijian and English descent. He is the younger brother of Eels teammate Michael McCloud and older brother of Wests Tigers player Robert McCloud.[2]

McCloud played his junior rugby league for the Western City Tigers, before being signed by the Penrith Panthers.

Playing career

In October 2011, McCloud played for the Australian Schoolboys.[3]

In 2012 and 2013, McCloud played for the Penrith Panthers' NYC team.[4][5]

On 20 April 2013, McCloud played for the New South Wales Under-20s team against the Queensland Under-20s team.[6]

On 6 October 2013, McCloud played in the Panthers' 42-30 win over the New Zealand Warriors in the 2013 NYC Grand Final.[7]

In 2014, McCloud moved to the Panthers' New South Wales Cup team.

In February 2014, McCloud played in the Panthers' inaugural NRL Auckland Nines squad.[8] He suffered a season ending elbow injury in the tournament.[9]

On 30 April 2014, McCloud re-signed with the Panthers on a 2-year contract.[10]

In Round 1 of the 2015 NRL season, McCloud made his NRL debut for the Panthers against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.[11] He scored a try on debut.

In September 2016, McCloud signed a 1-year contract with the Parramatta Eels starting in 2017, after not receiving any game time in the 2016 NRL season.[12]

On 2 April 2018, McCloud made his debut for Parramatta in their 30-20 defeat by the Wests Tigers.[13] On 28 August 2018, McCloud won the Jack Gibson NRL Coaches Award after being voted the club's best back.[14] On 30 October 2018, McCloud signed a one year contract extension to remain at Parramatta until the end of the 2019 season.[15]

McCloud began the 2019 NRL season in reserve grade as coach Brad Arthur chose both Blake Ferguson and Maika Sivo as the club's first choice wingers. In Round 10, McCloud was called into the Parramatta side to cover for the suspended Sivo as the club travelled to Townsville to face North Queensland.

With the scores locked at 10-10, McCloud attempted a pass across his own goal line to Ferguson on the first tackle. Ferguson lost the ball and North Queensland crossed over for the match winning try. The following week, McCloud kept his spot on the wing as Parramatta lost to last placed Penrith 16-10. McCloud was then subsequently demoted to reserve grade by Arthur.[16][17]

After being demoted, McCloud made no further appearances for Parramatta in the 2019 NRL season. McCloud instead played for the club's feeder side the Wentworthville Magpies in the Canterbury Cup NSW competition. McCloud scored a try in Wentworthville's 2019 grand final defeat against Newtown at the Western Sydney Stadium.[18]

In round 10 of the 2020 NRL season, McCloud was called into the Parramatta side as a replacement for the injured Blake Ferguson. In his first touch of the ball, McCloud knocked on which lead to a Manly try. In the final play of the game, McCloud scored a try but it was not enough as Parramatta lost the match 22-18 at Brookvale Oval.[19]

Midway through the 2020 NRL season, McCloud was loaned out to the New Zealand Warriors side. He made his debut for the club in their round 12 victory over the Wests Tigers at the Sydney Cricket Ground.[20]
