Digital Music News, which was described by The New York Times as an industry Weblog,[1][2] provides coverage ranging from tidbits[3] to everyday reporting[4] to major stories.[5]

They've criticized hate groups,[6] gone to court and "protected .. right to privacy,"[7] and written about family values.[8]

Overview

Digital Music News serves as a news source[9] and a source of "to quote from."[10]

In 2012 they were in the middle of a protection-of-journalistic-sources lawsuit.[11][7]

For some of their stories, they act as a news aggregator, but they also serve as the source for such aggregation by major newspapers such as The New York Times[12] and news magazines such as Newsweek[13] and Wired magazine[14]

They were founded by Paul Resnikoff[15][16] in 2004.[17]

Features

Aside from doing popularity and "Top 10" stories,[18][19] they also look into industry-related topics[20][21] and industry history.[22]

Competition

Their reporting competes with sources such as Webnoize[23] but they each specialize differently.[24][25][26] FutureMusic.com is another competitor.[27][28][29]
