On the evening of June 5 2024, a extensive and critical water main break along 16th Avenue NW was discovered in a key main pipe that carries major water supplies across [[Calgary]]. The water break also led to an [[Alberta Emergency Alert|AEA]] alert sent to Calgarian mobile's at 6:37 a.m notifying them, with instructions to:

* Delay using dishwashers and washing machines
* Limit times of using shower water and keeping waters shallow
* Turning off humidifiers and ice machines
* Turn off tap water systems when not in use

2024 Calgary water main break

On the evening of June 5 2024, a extensive and critical water main break along 16th Avenue NW was discovered in a key main pipe that carries major water supplies across Calgary, Airdrie, Strathmore and Chestermere.[1] A critical transmission line was installed to enable the city to help transport water across the city during the break.[2]
