DEFINITION of Film Verse

Film verse is a literary device that can be defined as poetry that uses moving images, words and, usually, sound.

Meter or rhythm is created through:

·      movement (the speed of frames create movement within frames, i.e. what is actually seen)

·      sound (voice, music or sound effects)

·      words (voiced or appearing on screen)

An image acts like another line in the poem.
