Life

Philip Moore was born on 12 October 1921 in Manchester Village on the in the East Berbice-Corentyne region (Region 6) of British Guiana (now Guyana). His father was a rubber-gatherer.

Moore attended the Manchester Church of Scotland School and was awarded his school-leaving certificate in 1938.

In 1941 he converted to the Jordanite religion.

In 1970, Moore traveled to the United States where he was appointed as the Artist-in-Residence, and tutor in sculptor, at Princeton University
