Welcome!

Hello, BandBHawks, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like Kayavak (beluga whale), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. I have nominated Kayavak (beluga whale), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kayavak (beluga whale). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

It doesn't look like you created the article, contrary to what you said on your userpage. Further investigation leads me to believe you have two or more accounts, as "535136" exists in both names. May I have an explanation? This is just to avoid an accusation of sockpuppetry in the future. Regards, Airplaneman talk 02:10, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pardon me, Airplaneman. I am yes, the same person that created the article. Sorry for the confusion. I forgot my password and was not comfortable giving away my email. Hope this answers your question Belugaboy535136 (talk) 03:07, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine; the investigations can get quite ugly, that's all. Airplaneman talk 03:24, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kayavak

I read your comment on Talk:Kayavak (beluga whale). You are certainly welcome to add information on Kayavak to the article on Shedd Aquarium. •••Life of Riley (TC) 04:21, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Mammals

Anybody can join a WikiProject, indeed it has been hard for a large number of WikiProjects to find enough participants recently! Please add your name to the list! If you have any questions about editing Wikipedia, please do ask me or the WikiProject, or almost any contributor. —innotata (TalkContribs) 19:29, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You beat me to it Innotata :P, Yes Belugaboy535136 it would be fantastic if you considered joing some of our other projects aswell, let me or Innotata know if you are interested. ZooPro 22:03, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You can't assume leadership for anything on Wikipedia. Some WikiProjects choose coordinators for some purposes, but no way does that mean they have authority over something. They are just ways of organizing work, but any user is able to do what coordinators do. Most WikiProjects don't have coordinators, but those that do are chosen per consensus. ZooFari 00:45, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know of any, but you can't just go out and search. Coordinators are dedicated to the topics of the WikiProject and contribute significantly. If you are interested in a topic, go out and find a WikiProject. Don't expect to be a coordinator though. There's nothing really special about them; they just help out maintain the project. By the way, I'm not ZooPro. ZooFari 01:04, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I guess the members just come up with the ideas. ZooFari 01:18, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks ZooFari for that, yes there is nothing special about being a "coordinator" it basicaly is a job that ensures the project runs smoothly and the technical side of things are looked after so other users dont have to worry about it and can get on with the job and tasks at hand. I would caution you though, taking on a Project is a GIANT responsability and an extremely big task one that only people who are 100% commited should consider undertaking. Just like ZooFari said its nothing special and gives us no privilages not already afforded to other users, we are the janitors of the project keeping the place clean and in order. Cheers ZooPro 05:44, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One of the main things you do as a coordinator is assess pages, which I do as much as I can, despite also trying to seriously work on articles, and get new articles to DYK. I don't really consider myself a coordinator, but I do many of the things coordinators do. —innotata (TalkContribs) 19:54, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And might i say Innotata is an excellent contributor and a brilliant assessor.ZooPro 23:33, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for Joining

Thanks for Joining WikiProject Zoo. ZooPro 05:52, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have you heard of WikiProject Cetaceans? I suggest you look through this list of WikiProjects and this page (and others) on writing articles. Pages like these are a great help! —innotata (TalkContribs) 15:54, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Project co-ordination

Don't mean to bite but this seemed a bit odd. If you're interested in co-ordination, go ahead, but don't expect much work. Those interested in a particular task tend to co-ordinate themselves and don't need (and for that matter: rarely like having) their hands held. --Swift (talk) 22:31, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
