The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the photography workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved for a Wikipedia article. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

Advice to requesters

All requests:

  • Please make sure your request is "legitimate" by copyright. If the image(s) are in the public domain or freely licensed, you are fine. If the image(s) are "Fair use", there are only certain things we can do with them without falling afoul of Wikipedia's fair-use policies.
    • If you are requesting assistance with a copyright or fair-use image, don't display it on this page; place {{GLNF|Example.png|caption|align=left}} to create a link to it. Do not add the File: extension. Our fair-use policy does not allow displaying fair-use images out of their articles on ANY account.
  • Please check back regularly to see if progress has been made or if any additional questions need to be answered before the request can be completed.
  • If a request is done to your satisfaction, please mark it with {{resolved}}.

SVG requests:

  • Make sure your request can actually BE vectorized. Note that vector drawings are not suitable for certain applications. We generally use SVG format for icons, logos, drawings, maps, flags, and such. Certain things, photographs especially, are totally impossible to vectorize.
  • Per our non-free content policy, vectorization of copyrighted images is not permitted. If a vectorized non-free image is desired, seek out such an image from the copyright holder.

Graphist opinion(s):  Done and overwritten. This turned out to be more complicated than I expected. I've done what I could, and I don't think much more can be done. I hope the result is sufficient. Regards. -- Orionisttalk 15:47, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good job, thank you. Gryffindor (talk) 19:10, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Easy background removal of Jimbo

Request: I think an image of Wales on a transparent background would help the artists designing banners for the fundraiser. (Ignore that its not for an article.) You can put it in the gallery when you're done.HereToHelp (talk to me) 19:19, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done and overwritten both files. I tried not to overdue anything since these files have been subjected to heavy processing. I hope you find them satisfactory. Regards. -- Orionisttalk 16:39, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please upload a less blurry photo made with a camera put on a tripod? This version is not really worth working on. Vearthy (talk) 21:47, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm very sorry, this is the only one I have. Could you please still try to make the best out of it? Gryffindor (talk) 16:25, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I also did color correction. I uploaded as 100 quality JPG. Media Wiki displays PNG thumbs a tad blurry, so I prefer to use JPG if there's no absolute need for a PNG. Regards. -- Orionisttalk 14:55, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request: fix washboarding caused by newsprint behind, pngify... Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 05:48, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

Done, but saved as JPEG which seemed more appropriate. —Quibik (talk) 08:47, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but the washboarding is still there. Can you see what I am talking about? Kind of stripes in the light areas.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 14:21, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm.. I thought by "washboarding" you meant the wavy pattern on the person's coat. I don't think I really understand what it is that you would like to see changed. Could you be more specific? —Quibik (talk) 16:36, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The same-but the pattern isn't the coat's, it's from the newsprint behind.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 23:38, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
