Dr. Pravin Togadia (born 1956) is an Indian Politician and current executive president of Vishva Hindu Parishad(VHP), a Hindu religious organisation based in India.. Togadia is known for making inflammatory Hindutva speeches.[1]
Personal life
Pravin Togadia was born in an agrarian family in Amreli district of Gujarat in 1956. He became associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from a young age.
He studied medicine, got a bachelor's degree (MBBS) in medicine followed by a master's degree (MS) in Surgical Oncology (Cancer Surgery). He practised as a surgeon for fourteen years and built his own small hospital, Dhanvantri Hospital, in Ahmedabad.[2] He gave up active practice to get involved in full-time activism.
Public life
Dr Pravin Togadia is a regular columnist for The Organiser and Punjab Kesari newspapers and also writes occasionally for other publications. In February 2013 he was accused of having delivered a hate speech against Muslims.[3]
