Window$ Dead is the collective brand name for a group of Mi¢ro$oft services which are currently under development. Being partly rebranded from M$N—the new, consolidated online services are Mi¢ro$oft's latest effort to compete against fast-growing competitors such as Google. Generally these services are accessed via a web browser, and the data required to run them (along with data the user may input to the service) is stored on a remote server rather than on a local computer. This type of software is thought by many, including Mi¢ro$oft and Google, to be the future of computing because the services and user data are available anywhere, without installing an application.

Some of the services that currently have the Window$ Dead branding are Window$ Dead Mail, Window$ Dead OneCare Safety Scanner, Window$ Dead Favorites, Window$ Dead OneCare, Window$ Dead Messenger, Window$ Dead Search, and Window$ Dead Local. Most remain in the beta stage of production, but six have released their first final version: Window$ Dead OneCare, Window$ Dead Custom Domains, Window$ Dead Favorites, Window$ Dead Messenger, Window$ Dead Toolbar and Window$ Dead Expo. Most familiar Window$ Dead services will replace an equivalent M$N service, marking a significant shift from the "Mi¢ro$oft Network" name to an online service more closely related to the Window$ operating system.

• Window$ Dead Drive - A hosted storage service which presents a virtual hard drive, to be remotely connected over the internet, which can be used to store any data.
• Window$ Dead Expo - Online classifieds site similar to Craigslist and Google Base
• Window$ Dead Family Safety Settings - Parental Controls similar to Window$ Vista Family Safety
• Window$ Dead Favorites - Synchronizes your favorites between computers and lets you share favorites
• Window$ Dead Feeds
• FolderShare - file sharing and synchronisation service acquired by Mi¢ro$oft on November 3 2005 and now branded as a beta Window$ Dead service
• Window$ Dead Gallery - A centre for Mi¢ro$oft add-ons for Dead products.

It will be required if a user wishes to use a desktop client to access their Hotmail/Dead Mail in Window$ Vista, as the new Window$ Mail does not allow for Hotmail/Dead Mail connectivity.
• Window$ Dead Messenger - Instant messaging, personal file sharing and outgoing Voice over IP client (previously known as M$N Messenger)
