Castle Connolly, also known as Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. is a New York based company with its primary domain being healthcare research and information services.[1][2][3] The organization is mostly known for historically publishing the list of top doctors and top hospitals in the United Stated in form of a directory determined by its internal assessment procedure.[4][5]
History
John K Castle and John J Connolly founded Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. in the year 1991.[6] They had been colleagues at the New York Medical College where Castle was the chairman of the board of trustees and Connolly had been serving as the president. The major publication of the company has been the annual directory book America's Top Doctors where the selection and inclusion of the doctors are decided by the way of nomination and consequent evaluation.[7] In 1999, the duo formed Castle Connolly Graduate Medical which offered publications, books, manuals and hands on guides for medical professionals and students.[8][9]
