The Last Post

Hi, with The Last Post now running into a 2nd year, and with over 6 million downloads a year as a podcast in it's own right (and increasingly divergent editorial) I feel it should have it's own page rather than in the 'offshoots' section of The Bugle page. Disambiguation page?

I feel this should be a disambiguation page... +sj + 20:06, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bugle Trivia

Jamacian sprinter Usian Bolt was listening to an episode of the Bugle whilst winning the 100m Gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Bolt's infamous 'dancing' in the last 30 metres was due to John Oliver rapping Cypress Hill lyrics. In the 200m final Bolt declined to use the Bugle as a motivational tool but still was able to break the world record. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Davemicah (talkcontribs) 14:27, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the year 2012 the Bugle episode 217 (after taking several months off for both John and Andy's sex change reversal operations... they both lost a bet in 2011... or did they win) will inadvertently cause both the end of civilization and the cosmos itself; but also due to an extremely improbable temporal event, it will actually create the universe we have grown to know and love (at times) and start the whole cycle over again... leading of course to an endless cycle of audio cryptic crosswords and hotties from history that eventually rip apart the fabric of space and time itself and the entire multiverse simply gives up in disgust and packs it in. -- MG —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.119.149.40 (talk) 06:00, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And speaking of the Olympics

John Oliver - the traitor that he is - recently tried-out for the USA Olympic Curling Team, and fully expects to land a place as Lead for the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. Oliver, commenting on his lack of curling experience, told the US Curling News "Look, mate, lack of experience didn't stop me talking my way to New York with the Times paying my way, and I don't expect it to stop the US Curling Association paying my way to Vancouver. I just hope they serve some real beer there. And another thing - the Times is a REAL newspaper, not some greasy-chip holding wrag like the one you are interviewing me for right now."

two nerd factions, the buglers versus the wikipedians

this is brilliant. i mean, these two groups, so similar in so many ways (probably relating to computer gaming?) have come to blows. it's been an invasion. the buglers have followed their fearless leader into foreign territory (as i'm doing right now).

we geeks must unite. somehow, a truce must be negotiated. did mccain not declare "we are all wikipedians?"

may florence nightengale give us all hand jobs.

oh ps. anyone who would have the knowledge necessary to add to the bugle page would have to be a devoted fan. a devoted fan would also be obliged to do as andy zaltzman says. so figure that one out.

Ogisuperstar (talk) 01:23, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The truce is above. I mean, really, a Bugle Wiki is better than one Wikipedia page, so we should all go there.Cfan01 (talk) 13:51, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 20:38, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's not better, because it's not nearly as funny. Editing the wikipedia page to fill it with lies is far more amusing than the lies themselves. Filling another site with lies is inane and pointless. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.22.77.216 (talk) 20:45, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Will the people who want to use the Wiki instead of this page please stop commenting! Al Gore invented the internet to spread lies (see: Global Warming; Two Chicks, One Cup). If you want the truth read a book. For truthful information on the Bugle, please consult "Curries and Bugles: A Memoir and a Cookbook of the British Raj" by Jennifer Brennan. To those unfamiliar with the subject, Andy is Curry, John is the British Raj. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.82.134.139 (talk) 20:25, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So...I posted the outline of the structure of a Bugle Episode. Anyone is free to add to it to make it funnier. Thanks.

9/12 article confirmation

There was a special edition on 9/11 that verified some of the previously unsupported claims in teh article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.175.86.191 (talk) 03:10, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Times Website

Does anyone have access to thetimes.co.uk to verify that the Bugle still has its own page? It was mentioned the other week that it no longer exists and I don't have a login to get past the paywall. Soupy sautoy (talk) 09:09, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a very basic page for The Bugle now at The Times website. I'll update the link. --Melinoe (talk) 13:41, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ped

WP:RWN and WP:Eventualism compel me not to revert this edit, which is roughly 60% valuable and 40% unencyclopedic nonsense... Will contact the original poster to see if they would like to clean it up a bit. —Bill Price (nyb) 15:16, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chris and His Manipulation of Time

After Tom left, he was replaced by Chris, about whom little has been said on the air. When Chris first began producing the podcast, he restructured the standard musical cues quite a bit to jarring effect (e.g., he once played the podcast's closing music during the middle of an episode), but over time, his production became more similar to Tom's. Chris occasionally participates in banter with Oliver and Zaltzman, albeit not to the extent that Tom did. Chris has been the subject of semi-ironic hate mail (and fan mail) from listeners, apparently for no reason other than that he is not Tom, and this became a running joke of the show. Chris is the star of fuckyouchris.com, a site devoted to chronicling fan's ironic hatred of Chris. Despite this, fans now appear to only be sending hate mail as a good-natured joke (including the fuckyouchris website), accepting his role on the show's staff. Being much younger and enthusiastic than Tom, Chris has a speaking role on the show much more often; his guest spots also tend to last much longer, acting as a "third host", as in Bugle 140 when he has an extended conversation with John and Andy about the state of Australia.

Which of the above bolded/italicized text is true?

First one, then the other. (Those bits of prose were written months apart, I believe.) —Bill Price (nyb) 16:59, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It could be improved by adding "at first" to the first bit and changing verb tenses appropriately. (Edit - never mind! problem solved before I even commented. crazy.) --75.71.237.144 (talk) 22:02, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Problematic contributions

One of the long-running issues of this article is that more-or-less well-meaning fans will add prose which is about 70% valid and 30% unencyclopedic, either in tone or in content. It's hard to sift through it, and I'm not fond of deleting people's entire contributions, so it's a tough issue. The page is already tagged with the appropriate problem templates... it's just sad that the page is getting worse over time, not better. —Bill Price (nyb) 14:03, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If it's unsourced original research, there need be no qualms cutting it. WP:Fancruft doesn't belong. 99.155.206.229 (talk) 19:13, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Encyclopaedic?

What, if anything, makes this article a suitable entry on Wikipedia? It reads more like an in-joke, or like a nest of material that all should have been reverted for NPOV violation. Snezzy (talk) 17:40, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Episodes

Went through the article and found it gives undue weight to the 'Episodes' section (which also links to topics not related to the episodes) and a bit promotional on the first two lines. I also suspect violation of WP:NOTDIR. Although notable events/programs may have a place in the article, I don't think the episodes section serves any purpose. Do I have consensus to remove the topic? Regards--JAaron95 Talk 14:48, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RadioTopia

Can someone update the logo, as the bugle is now apart of RadioTopia? I do not know how to edit images. Please and Thanks. 61.200.33.99 (talk) 10:37, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
