Rachel Wainer Apter is an American lawyer. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy nominated Apter to be an associate justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey.
Early life and education
Apter grew up in Rockaway, Jersey where she attended Morris Hills Regional High School.[1] She went on to attend Harvard Law School, graduating in 2004.[1]
Career
After law school, Apter had multiple clerkships. She first clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Jed Rakoff in the Southern District of New York, and then for Chief Judge Robert Katzman of the 2nd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.[1] She then went on to clerk for Supreme Court of the United States Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.[2][1]
On March 15, 2021, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy nominated Apter to be an associate justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey.[2]
Personal life
Apter has three children.[1]
