Billy Sharp (born 5 February 1986 in Sheffield, United Kingdom) is a professional footballer, currently a striker at Scunthorpe United. The striker signed for Sheffield United in 2002, but was largely overlooked within the team. In 2005, he went on loan to Rushden and Diamonds and played 16 games scoring an impressive 9 goals. After returning from being on loan he played only a couple of times before being released. In 2005 he signed for £100,000 to League One team Scunthorpe. He has quickly become a favourite with the club's fans.

Sharp finished joint top scorer with Freddy Eastwood in League One in 2005/06 with 23 goals. Now in the 2006/07 season, Sharp has 17 league goals to his name and is Scunthorpe's leading scorer. He scored a header in the televised defeat to Aston Villa, which served to enhance his reputation across the nation.

In October 2006 there was speculation of Premiership scouts keeping track of the young striker, as well as team mate Andy Keogh. This rumour was furthered towards the end of the month when Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce was spotted in the crowd during Scunthorpe United's League One victory against Leyton Orient, a game in which Billy scored twice. He has also been linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday after his manager at Scunthorpe, Brian Laws moved to the club. This is despite being a known Sheffield United fan (although he said he would never return to the club under Neil Warnock). More recently he has been touted as a possible Mark Hughes signing, an unnamed Blackburn Rovers messageboard having been inundated with information regarding Sharp, most apparently generated by a Southern based agency, WSR.

Sharp scored the 50th goal of his career in the 2-0 win at Carlisle United on 9 December 2006. He was featured on ITV's The Championship, and Scunthorpe United chairman Steve Wharton recently claimed he would reject a bid of 2 million pounds for Sharp.

He is a fan of rapper 50 Cent and occasionally plays golf.
