Townships

Salve, Beirne!
Saw your comment on my township project page about the map-it template. It's a good idea to add it. As I've never worked with it, if you'd add some info about it on the project page, I'd appreciate it. I looked at your Bath Township, Summit County, Ohio article: looking good. Ave! PedanticallySpeaking 17:20, Apr 28, 2005 (UTC)

Beirne,
Sorry about not replying sooner. I am gratified by your kind words about the townships project. I've looked at both the Summit County articles you mentioned, Northampton and Bath Townships and they're both very good work. PedanticallySpeaking 16:11, May 13, 2005 (UTC)

Salve, Beirne!
I am impressed with the contributions you have been making with Ohio's townships. You seem to be singlehanded filling in the northeastern corner of our fair state and I am delighted by it. I am also pleased to see SwissCelt's labors. He contacted me a few weeks ago about the Logan County article, I suggested he might do some townships his way. And he's been hard at work. Keep it up. PedanticallySpeaking 18:03, May 28, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! I should be fair, though, point out that SwissCelt did Portage County so there are at least two of us working in this corner of the state. --Beirne 12:10, May 29, 2005 (UTC)

I wanted to let you know I put up a link on the township project page to the PUCO's mapping site [1]. It has incredible maps showing boundaries of telephone exchanges and a lot of other stuff. Really good site. PedanticallySpeaking 18:16, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

I finally remembered to look up about Akron and Streetsboro. There's an answer for you here: Talk:Paper_township#Definition_of_a_paper_township. PedanticallySpeaking 15:49, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your help!

Beirne, I just wanted to let you know that your assistance on the Cleveland featured article nomination is most appreciated. It certainly wouldn't be a featured article without the help and contributions that you provided for the article. I promised EurekaLott a steak dinner the next time I'm up there, so I'll offer it to you as well. (I told EL that Morton's at Tower City would be just fine with me, but realistically we're probably talking the Waffle House or Denny's. :) ) Thanks again for all your help! Take care -- PacknCanes | say something! 13:00, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I just did a morning of touch up so I don't think I deserve the "steak" dinner, but I'll be glad to join you two when you come up. --Beirne 13:52, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"Turd central"? Must have been someone from Pittsburgh. :) (Couldn't resist...) PacknCanes | say something! 04:20, 5 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I-76

What the hell are you doing? Did you notice the lengths in the first paragraph? And the list of 3DIs right above the template you're adding? --SPUI (talk) 01:36, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Try reading Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Interstate Highways. It says the lengths go in a table and that the 3di template is to be included below the spurs list. The lenghts are only in the first paragraph because you put them there and removed the length table earlier. As I said in my edit summary, a standard format makes it easy to find information in articles on the same type of subject. --Beirne 01:43, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It's easy enough to find the links to the spur routes; there is no reason to add the template. --SPUI (talk) 02:00, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cleveland Portal

Calling all fellow Clevelanders! Be sure to regularly contribute and/or expand the new Cleveland portal now online! -- Clevelander 20:47, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You should probably read three-revert rule, which you have violated on Interstate 76 (east). I will not report you, but someone else may come across the revert war and do so, so you may want to revert your last edit. --SPUI (talk | don't use sorted stub templates!) 20:04, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You don't report me and I won't report you. --Beirne 02:21, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't broken it. --SPUI (talk | don't use sorted stub templates!) 05:14, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pittsburgh-area Interstates

Hholt01 08:17, 28 December 2005 (UTC) Hi Beirne, not sure why you choose not to have a profile page, but since you found it useful to delete a local transportation infobox I thought you might be interested in reading a local transportation story, brought to you by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, seems the Pittsburgh newspaper and the Pittsburgh hospitals are taking care of an interstate that has "nothing to do" with Pittsburgh, good thing Beirne knows better then a bunch of MD's and big city editors where I-70 does and doesn't go. I'll let you have some time to get back to me on the I-70, I-80, I-76, and I-79 comments because I would like to do this in the spirit of wiki, so just for you Beirne I will dismiss the MD's and pulitzer prize winning reporters for awhile. Hope we can come to a compromise on this matter.[reply]

I moved your posting from my profile page to my talk page, where it belongs. I'll create a profile page when I feel like it. I read the Post Gazette article. It says the event took place in Washington County, which according to my Rand McNally atlas is south of Pittsburgh. None of the other Interstates listed pass through the city of Pittsburgh. The newspaper covers the wider area but the template was for Pittsburgh Interstates, not suburban Pittsburgh Interstates or Western Pennsylvania Interstates. Yes, I'm being a stickler or worse, but the criticism of Wikipedia that keeps coming up in the media is its errors. BTW, my actual wording when I deleted I-70 wasn't that it had "nothing to do" with Pittsburgh. What I said was "I70 doesn't pass through the city of Pittsburgh", an easy statement to verify. --Beirne 13:12, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings from Mediation Cabalist, Steven McCrary, I hope this message finds you well.

  1. I have posted a response to request for mediation at Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Cases/29_12_2005_Interstate_76_(east), and respectfully request that you read and then respond to any relevant issue that I may have overlooked, as appropriate.
  2. I am issuing a warning to you regarding violation of Wikipedia policy on edit wars. Please be aware of the policy.

Thanks and Happy New Year, Steven McCrary 15:37, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Good bye

I ended up in a protracted edit war and in the end just got sick of the whole thing. I took a week off from Wikipedia according to advice elsewhere on the site and I found that it feels nice not coming here and worrying about whether I'm going to have to quarrel more. I also found I have a lot more free time. Bye. --Beirne 01:41, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So you are aware, it appears that the problems with {{routeboxint}} have been resolved... with a drastic makeover of it, but it appears to be a good compromise. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 18:31, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
