Coup of Gods is a 2021 album by Iranian composer and arranger Mehdi Rajabian. The album was released 17 September 2021 in the United States.[1][2][3] This work was arranged and composed by Mehdi Rajabian through his musical mindset of classic and world music by leaning on the tone of native players like Indian Sarangi and Armenian Duduk, with two American folk singers and the assistance of ‘Yaybahar’s innovatory instrument and solo classical playing with accompaniment of São Paulo's national orchestra.[4][5][6][7][8]

Suspension of the album

A year before the album's launch, BBC World Service[9] announced the start of making this album on the middle days of 11 August 2020 and this announcement was followed by a wide range of aggression toward Mehdi Rajabian, causing his detention.[10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]

Rajabian's difficulties in making the album were reported in Billboard,[18] Rolling Stone,[19] Financial Times,[20] Forbes,[21] Time, the BBC,[22] Fox News,[23] Newsweek,[24] Sky News[25] and The Times.[26][27]
