Wali is a Canadian soldier and author.

As of March 2022, he was operating as a volunteer sniper for the Ukranian armed forces during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.[1] He had previously served as a sniper in the Royal 22e Régiment of the Canadian Armed Forces during the 2001-2021 War in Afghanistan.[1] Prior to leaving to join the Ukranian armed forces, he was working as a computer programmer.[2] As of 2022, he was 40 years old.[3]

Multiple rumours have circulated about his proficiency as a sniper and whether he had been killed by Russian forces.[1][3] However the rumours of his death were proven to be a Russian disinformation campaign after he turned up alive.[2][4][5]
