He has been banned for life for doping, and all of his results from February 25, 2011, on have been disqualified [1] He was first handed a two-year period of ineligibility from September 9, 2008, to September 8, 2010, but ultimately was given a lifetime ban on August 28, 2013, for additional violations of anti-doping rules.[1] He was stripped of his results as a participant of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and 5th place finish in the 50 kilometres walk.[2][3] In 2011, though he was stripped of this result after he was found to have violated anti-doping rules, he placed second at the European Race Walking Cup.[1]
Career
Yerokhin competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, but tested positive for prohibited substances and was subsequently disqualified for two years for doping.[4]
He was first handed an initial two-year period of ineligibility from September 9, 2008, to September 8, 2010, for his having violated anti-doping rules.[1]
He subsequently was banned for life. On August 28, 2013, the Russian Athletics Federation announced that Yerokhin had received a further ban after abnormal hematological profile indicators were found on his biological passport.[5] This time, he received a life ban, and was stripped of all his results since 25 February 2011.[1] This included his 5th-place finish at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 50 kilometres walk, and his 2nd place at the European Race Walking Cup.[2][6][3]
In August 2022, Yerokhin was found guilty of committing further anti-doping rule violations by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).[7][1] A urine sample of his was tested by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency on May 6, 2012, but it was not until October 30, 2017, that the World Anti-Doping Agency received data from the Moscow laboratory, which was ultimately supplied by a whistleblower.[1] Endurobol and pseudoephidrine, a prohibited anabolic steroid and a stimulant, were detected in his sample.[1] Inasmuch as Yerokhin was already banned for life and his results from February 25, 2011, had been disqualified, he did not face any additional punishments for his infringement of anti-doping rules.[1][7]
