In 1976 he emigrated with his family to Spain, persecuted by the Argentine dictatorship, and there he joined the group that some time later would become known as Tequila, with famous songs like "Salta" and "Rock & Roll in the town square", which would launch him to fame.

Rot moved to Spain when he was young and became a member of the group Tequila.[1] Later, he began his solo musical career, after which he joined the group Los Rodríguez (1990–96). More recently, he has returned to solo performing. His sister, Cecilia Roth, is an actress. His paternal family, of Ukrainian origin, settled in Argentina fleeing Nazism first and Stalinism later.[2] In those years, he declares he was a fan of Oscar Alemán.[3] In April 2007, Ariel recorded Duos, trios y perversiones, an album which included his most popular songs and featured artists such as Enrique Bunbury from Heroes del Silencio, Andrés Calamaro, and Quique Gonzalez.[4]
