Druze Syria Protestors

On August 20 2023, popular protests over the high inflation rate and deteriorating economic situation in Syria erupted in the Druze majority city of Al-Suwayda, with thousands of protesters chanting slogans demanding the downfall of Assad regime. By August 24, the protests had spread nation-wide and reached the regions Daraa, Latakia, Tartus, Deir-alzor, Hasakah and Homs.[5][6][7][8] On August 25 the protest spread to other regions too, such as Aleppo and the capital city of Syria, Damascus.[9]
