Mayberry is an unincorporated community in Pawnee County, Nebraska, in the United States.[1]
History
The town of Mayberry was initially called Gartner, after the founder Peter Gartner and his family. The town began as a trading post and later was developed into a township.[2]
At its peak Mayberry had many businesses including general stores, a doctors office, barbershop, and brick factory. The town church was completed in 1899.[2]
A post office was established at Mayberry in 1884, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1934.[3] The community was named for Charles N. Mayberry, a pioneer settler.[4]
