This course examines the history of Asian immigrants in the United States from the mid-19th century to the present. It combines lectures and in-class discussions. I plan to require each student to either create a new wikipedia page or edit an existing wikipedia page. I think the current coverage on Wikipedia regarding the Asian Americans are insufficient, and I hope my students will help to expand the coverage of Asian Americans (in past and present) on Wikipedia. By increasing the presence of Asian Americans on Wikipedia, I hope my course will challenge the conventional assumption that Asian Americans are a silent minority in the U.S.
