Dan Boeckner gerw up in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. In his early years in Victoria he was in many small bands. In 2000 with his notable British Columbian band Atlas Strategic they recorded Rapture, Ye Minions! which was released on a local label, Global Symphonic. They then toured and recorded a second album which was never officially released. After the band broke up he moved to Montreal, Canada. After moving to Montreal Spencer Krug asked him to play with him for a show opening for The Arcade Fire, this is the Canadian band Wolf Parade who has released 3 EPs and 1 full length album on Sub Pop. He currently has a side project called Handsome Furs who have an album due on May 22, on Sub Pop.
