Fred Burri's claims his swiss heritage from his parents.[2] It is from this heritage that he was introduced to Schwingen, a form of Swiss wrestling.[3]

After attending Oregon State University, he was recruited to coach football at Whittier College. Then coaching at Mt. San Antonio College for 34 years. [4] Burri also appeared in the films Magic Matterhorn (1995) and A Walk in the Clouds (1995).[5] He recorded three albums of Volksmusik and Yodeling.[6]
