:There are two links. One in general to the most comprehensive site available regarding the Italian Navy in WW II and one to a specific article covering the topic. The latter provides details while the other general information. I don’t see any issue if not providing the readership with reliable information. Wouldn’t you agree? Not to mention that we are talking about authors with university degree and, in my case, a military historian. ::What Lydaship is saying is that a like to a specific page on the website about a specific submarine is probably fine, but just posting a link to the home page of the website is not. Quite honestly there should probably be a community discussion to establish [[WP:CONSENSUS|a consensus]] as to why your website deserves to be called out in this global encyclopedia, with many people who would love to have their websites linked to as well. It may very well deserve to be, I have no idea, but that should be established.

Email

I received your email, I don't generally discuss Wikipedia matters via email. If your IP address is blocked, you should follow the instructions that appear on the screen to request unblocking. If you don't want to provide your IP address publicly, you may use WP:UTRS to make a private unblock request.

You seem to be referring to the paid editing policy; while I don't know what specifically you are discussing, paid editing does not require a "commercial interest", only that you somehow receive compensation related to your editing, this can be employment(even by a non-profit), volunteer work experience that you put on a resume. or even something not tangible, it doesn't have to be cash money. 331dot (talk) 09:01, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I followed the instructions and asked for our IP to be allowed. I am not sure how you came to the conclusion that there was any compensation involved. regiamarina.net has been operating since 1996 on a 100% volunteer base and no one has ever received any compensation. We pay for the infrastructure - not cheap - out of our own pockets. You can easily see that it is a site wholly dedicated to naval history with a long list of authors and contributors.
I hope this helps. Manfred Yost (talk) 12:54, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You don't ask on the IP page to be unblocked, you ask on this page, or if you don't want to publicly link your IP to you, make a private request via WP:UTRS using the name of this account.
I haven't come to any conclusions about paid editing, as I know nothing other than what you have told me. I don't even know what article this is regarding. I am simply saying that if you are employed by the non-profit, or even if you volunteer for them but put the work experience on your resume, that is considered "paid editing". If you aren't employed, as you say, okay, but as I said even volunteer work can be considered "paid editing" because you are compensated with the experience of the work and people often put this on their resumes to obtain paying jobs. 331dot (talk) 12:58, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see. My IP is 93.150.81.149. While I have a degree in Military History, my profession - I'm retired - was Systems Architect, thus totally unrelated and none of my volunteer work ever made it into my resume. Please, unblock my IP.
Thank you. Manfred Yost (talk) 07:04, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That IP address is not directly blocked. What is the exact message that you see when you attempt to make an edit? If it is autoblocked, an account name should appear. 331dot (talk) 08:19, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

www.regiamarina.net

I notice that nearly all your edits have been to add this website to Italian submarine articles. While there would probably be no objection if they linked to a specific page on that website giving information about the subject of the article this is a home page and too general. Please read WP:EL. I intend to remove all these links Lyndaship (talk) 09:28, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are two links. Manfred Yost (talk) 10:58, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What Lydaship is saying is that a link to a specific page on the website about a specific submarine is probably fine, but just posting a link to the home page of the website is not. Quite honestly there should probably be a community discussion to establish a consensus as to why your website deserves to be called out in this global encyclopedia, with many people who would love to have their websites linked to as well. It may very well deserve to be, I have no idea, but that should be established.
