:Hello, and thanks. I had used the wrong link for the source of the quote. The real source is in English. And the wrong link (still there) was to an Uzbek News website and was an interview with one of the actress. ::No, a review of the film is helpful, but I'm just not sure this one helps to show notability. It appears (please correct me if I am wrong) that this is simply a student's paper about the director himself? That source would be great for expanding Melis Abzalov, but we need one focused on the film itself here. Per WP:NMOVIES, we would need reviews from nationally known critics or film professionals, coverage in independant major publications, if the film has received any rewards, etc. I understand that an Uzbeki film may not have the same major coverage of a Hollywood blockbuster, but I'm not sure being mentioned in a student's school paper about the director does much. This quote is still useful and helpful, just not for the notability concerns. The other sources also appear to be articles written about the actors (from what I can translate), instead of the film itself. Have there been any professional reviews written in a major newspaper (article is discussing/reviewing the film itself), was it shown at any international film festivals, has it received any rewards? What verifiable proof is there that this film is notable enough for its own article? Please don't think I am trying to talk down the film, or your editing, I am only trying to ensure that someone else in the future doesn't come along to say it is not notable enough. Again, WP:NMOVIES shows what all we need, if I have not explained it well enough (sorry, still early in the morning for me). Please feel free to ask if you need anything, I love helping small articles grow whenever possible! - Adolphus79 (talk) 14:42, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

:Hello, and thanks, yes, it's an article in a peer-rv publication by a then-PhD student. Regarding the rest, I understand and am rather familiar with those guidelines, but couldn't we consider that the following criterion applies: The film was successfully distributed domestically in a country that is not a major film producing country, and was produced by that country's equivalent of a "major film studio". Articles on such a film should assert that the film in question was notable for something more than merely having been produced, and if any document can be found to support this, in any language, it should be cited." (The film is a Uzbekfilm production). I think that redirecting to the director would be a pity but if you find it's really better and the page can't stay as such, feel free.-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 14:55, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Archived talk: 1; 2; 3; 4.

Hello, regarding this edit... Who is the person you quoted? I'm guessing a film critic? Was this a newspaper review or a book or a personal website/blog? I'm sorry, I don't speak uzbek, and would like to clarify why that quote is notable for our other non-uzbek speaking readers...

...and why do I suddenly feel drunk looking at my preview here? lol - Adolphus79 (talk) 03:39, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and thanks. I had used the wrong link for the source of the quote. The real source is in English. And the wrong link (still there) was to an Uzbek News website and was an interview with one of the actress. Feel free to remove it if you think it's not helpful.-My, oh my!
