Kaze no Stigma (風の聖痕, lit. Stigma of the Wind) is a Japanese light novel series written by Takahiro Yamato and illustrated by Hanamaru Nanto. An anime television series adaptation directed by Junichi Sakata and animated by Gonzo began airing on April 11 2007.
Plot
Template:Spoilers Four years ago, Kazuma was defeated by Ayano for the right to be the successor of the Enraiha, a sword passed down by the Kannagi family. His defeat, along with the fact that Kazuma had no talent in using the fire arts, which is the Kannagi family's specialty, caused him to be banished from the family. After his four year absence, Kazuma Kannagi returns as Kazuma Yanagi, a skilled master of the wind arts. Although, shortly after his return, he is accused of murdering members of the Kannagi family for revenge.

- Ayano Kannagi (神凪綾乃, Kannagi Ayano)
- Ayano is a sixteen year old girl who has inherited the sacred Enraiha sword of the Kannagi family. She is extremely skilled in the fire arts and is the future leader of the Kannagi family. Due to her skills, she is very arrogant and irrational, usually taking action without proper orders. Though she seems undisciplined, she is very proud of her heritage and is not averse to killing to uphold family honor. At the age of twelve, she defeated Kazuma during the Successor Ceremony for the Enraiha with one simple jutsu.
- Ren Kannagi (神凪煉, Kannagi Ren)
- The younger brother of Kazuma. He seems to be the only one who truly cares for his older brother.

Terminology
- Enraiha
- A special sword with fire properties given to the future head of the Kannagi Family. It is presently in the possession of Ayano and she seems to be able to summon it when ever she pleases; if the sword is flung from her hand, it can reappear in her hand.

Adaptations
Light novel
Kaze no Stigma began as a light novel series serialized in the Japanese seinen manga magazine Gekkan Dragon Magazine, published by Fujimi Shobō, a subsidary of Kadokawa Shoten. It began serialization in January 2002, and as of April 2007, is still running. Nine bound volumes have been published — six main volumes and three short story compilations. The latest main volume was released on October 20, 2005, and the latest short story volume went on sale in Japan in March 2007.
Anime
The Kaze no Stigma anime, animated by Gonzo, first aired on April 11 2007.
