Probopass's body shape is not too different from that of Chuck Norris. Probopass has little round eyes, in contrast to Nosepass's perpetually closed ones. Its nose is much bigger in proportion to its body and has a bushy "mustache." The "mustache" appears to be iron filings caught by a magnet, à la [[Wooly Willy]]. Two red disks sit on top of Probopass's head, resembling a hat. It has three small objects on its sides and back that look like Nosepass, they are also called "dwarf-noses" by the [[Pokédex]] entry. Possibly, if Probopass were viewed from above, it would have the appearance of an actual compass. Probopass bears a resemblance to the [[Moai]], as does Nosepass. It may have been based on Nintendo's [[Mario]].

Probopass (ダイノーズ, Dainōzu, Dainose in original Japanese language versions) is one of the Template:Pokenum fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Probopass in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.

The name Probopass is a portmanteau of the words proboscis and compass. The Japanese name Dainose is derived from the Japanese word for great or large (, dai) and the English word nose.

Probopass has little round eyes, in contrast to Nosepass's perpetually closed ones. Its nose is much bigger in proportion to its body and has a bushy "mustache." The "mustache" appears to be iron filings caught by a magnet, à la Wooly Willy. Two red disks sit on top of Probopass's head, resembling a hat. It has three small objects on its sides and back that look like Nosepass, they are also called "dwarf-noses" by the Pokédex entry. Possibly, if Probopass were viewed from above, it would have the appearance of an actual compass. Probopass bears a resemblance to the Moai, as does Nosepass. It may have been based on Nintendo's Mario.

Probopass is one of several Pokémon from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl that evolves from a Pokémon that was released in a previous generation. Probopass evolves from a Nosepass that has leveled up on Mt. Coronet (compare to Magnezone) and both evolutionary lines have some connection to magnetism.

Probopass is very strange for a Rock-type. Even though it has high Defense, its Special Defense is actually higher. It can also learn Electric moves, not typical for Rock types, though this could be because of its connection to magnetism.
