Use in dance

Pelvic thrusts can also be used as a dance move, most often as part of bump and grind(Bump and grind is closely related to the "shuck and jive"), but in other applications as well.

One of the first to perform this move was Elvis Presley, which was at the time quite controversial. Due to this, he would normally be shown (as seen on his third appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show) from the waist up on TV. [1]

Other musicians, such as Tom Jones, Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Murdoc Niccals of the virtual band Gorillaz, are or have been particularly known to use the thrust.

The pelvic thrust is also featured prominently in The Rocky Horror Show and The Rocky Horror Picture Show in the musical routine, The Time Warp. In the theatrical version The Criminologist (played by Charles Gray) provides visual and oral instruction to the audience, who generally participate.

Duffman, the fictional mascot of Duff Beer is often seen doing pelvic thrusts in this manner.

Virtual and fiction

• In the game Unreal Tournament, the player has the option of performing a pelvic thrust -the "hump taunt" - in multiplayer games to mock those one has beaten. It is used in chat rooms in the same fashion: to express dominance over another.
• Another fictional example of this is the film character Ace Ventura.
• In the video game Fable, the player's character can unlock the ability to perform pelvic thrusts.
• The Blackadder character Lord Flashheart's catchphrase is a shout of "Woof!" while doing a pelvic thrust.
• In the popular internet TV show, Pure Pwnage Jeremy is known to pelvic thrust his opponents and monitor to flaunt victory.
• In the movie Spider-Man 3, Peter Parker can be seen doing a pelvic thrust.
