Trivia
- 'Welcome to the Jungle' by Guns N' Roses was used in this episode
- When Apu says "How do you get cradle rash when you sleep in a suitcase?", closed captions read "How do you get cradle rash when you sleep in a turkey pan?"
- The names of the babies are Poonam, Sashi, Pria, Uma, Anoop, Sandeep, Nabendu, and Gheet (Manjula´s favourite who resembles Apu's brother, Sanjay).
- Two of Apu's pet names for Manjula are "Curry Face" and "Chutney Butt".
- Homer's conversion about being sterile is a reference to the third season finale edisode, Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes? in which his sterility was first discovered.
Cultural references
- The mega-store SHØP is most likely a parody of real-life furniture shop IKEA, but may have also been influenced by the name of the similar California-based STØR chain (which was acquired by and rebranded as IKEA several years prior to this episode's first airing).
- The eight babies being placed in an exhibition mirrors the fate of the young Dionne quintuplets.
